Wildwood Bayou 2016

Wildwood Bayou 2016

About Barb and Brad

We met in 1991 and were married in 1993.  Together we have six children from previous marriages, all grown and out of the house:  Brad has 3 boys and a girl, and Barb has one of each.  We have a total of seven grandchildren.

Brad retired on September 30, 2009 after 22 years at Boeing as a Systems Engineer.  Barb is retired from Sherwood & Harper in Wichita as a legal secretary.  We sold our little farm and moved into our motorhome; we have begun our adventure as full-time RVers.  We spent the 2009-2010 winter in Arizona, workamping for an RV park in Wickenburg.  We then traveled to Moose Pass, Alaska and spent the summer of 2010 in the beautiful Kenai Peninsula parked amongst the beautiful Chugach Mountains hosting at two guest chalets.  After a winter of traveling around the gulf coast of Alabama and Florida, and into and around Florida, we spent the summer of 2011 in Galloway, New Jersey workamping at a small RV park near Atlantic City. We were in Foley, Alabama for the winter of 2011-2012, and worked for the State of Kansas at Tuttle Creek State Park for the summer of 2012. The winter of 2012-2013 we relaxed in southern Texas before we headed back up to Moose Pass for the summer of 2013. We left in mid September and headed south to Cleveland, TX and The Preserve of Texas. Here we spent the winter and built a nice little Casita with a pad for our RV. We can use it over the winter months. We finished most of the construction in May of 2014 and hit the road for the summer. We had plans to tour the western states, concentrating on northern California, Oregon, and Washington. Unfortunately (or fortunately) problems with the motorhome changed our plans and we ended up Workamping in Depoe Bay, OR for the summer of 2014. We enjoyed it immensely. So much so that we agreed to return next summer for another stint. Eventually we returned to our spot in Texas for the winter months. In 2015 we made the western National Parks tour we had planned for 2014. We visited Carlsbad Caverns, Grand Canyon, Redwoods, Sequoia, Yosemite, and Oregon Caves on our way to Depoe Bay, OR. After another great summer on the Oregon coast, we headed southwards stopping at Grand Tetons and Glacier NPs. 2016 looked to be a summer of travel seeing as much of the Great Lakes region as we could squeeze in. Unfortunately the Texas floods cut our Great Lakes trip short as we had to return to mop up and rebuild. 2017 sees us heading to Kentucky in May to visit our son and renovate his Chiropractic office. Then the summer was spent Workamping in Baileys Harbor, WI in Door county. We enjoyed cooler weather, touring, and seeing what Wisconsin had to offer. Then, August came and so did Hurricane Harvey! Our lovely place in Cleveland had over 50" of water in it, so we packed up and headed southwards to review to review and repair the damage.

As a part of our re-evaluation, we have decided to downsize and come off the road as full time RVers. We purchased a small townhome in Spring, TX and moved a lot of our belongings there. We will keep and maintain the RV lot in Cleveland, but will take our time rebuilding. Our travels will not be as extensive or as long in duration but we will still be traveling. 2018 will see us in a new, smaller RV. It is scheduled to begin building in January and we should have delivery by early March. This summer we will take it on its maiden voyage and will head into the upper Plains states and maybe some traveling in the UP of Michigan. We'll see.
We love to travel as much as we can, and have been fortunate enough to visit some (not enough) of the U.S., including Hawaii, as well as Ireland (twice) and the U.K., most of Europe, the Western Caribbean, the Mexican Riviera, Kenya, Egypt, the Eastern Caribbean, Australia and the Amazon!  A recent international destination was Iceland in the Winter of 2013! (Yes, I said Iceland in the Winter! It was fantastic!) We most recently spent a week in a hut over the ocean in Belize...beautiful!
Follow us on this website as we travel the U.S. and Canada in our motorhome, and share our adventures both here and abroad with all our friends and family!
